Erica’s wearing notes

Keep warm in the clothes you already love.

I feel the cold quite easily. At around 14°C, I start wanting to wear these underneath; below 10°C, I usually want them on.

What makes them so useful is how little I need to change. My usual trousers, jeans or a favourite long skirt can stay in the wardrobe rotation, with a soft layer of Golden Cashmere next to my skin.

For the Hong Kong Edition, I chose a length that works for everyday wear, bringing the warmth down towards the ankles. A winter base layer I reach for often needs to feel light, thin and natural to wear, as well as warm.

With everyday trousers

An extra layer of warmth,
under your usual trousers.

In these photographs, I am wearing Golden Cashmere beneath my everyday cotton trousers. The waist and hips still feel comfortable, and the trouser legs retain the drape I like.

I do not need to find a different pair of trousers just to add warmth. This thin, close-fitting layer lets me keep dressing as I normally would, with a little more softness and warmth underneath.

Look closely at the waist and you can see the cashmere ribbing beneath the trousers. The full-length, front and back photographs show how the two layers sit together.

A soft waist,
with freedom to move.

It is easy to layer the upper body, while the waist, abdomen and legs can be overlooked. The high-rise design covers the abdomen, extending close-to-skin warmth from the waist down the legs.

The soft elasticated waistband and flexible rib knit move with you as you sit, bend and stretch. The fit is close without the constriction of shapewear.

Seamless knitting reduces bulky seams. Together with the body-skimming shape, it makes everyday wear more comfortable.

Fine elastic gently holds the waist in place

A very fine, very soft elastic band inside the high-rise ribbed waist provides light support, helping it sit comfortably and securely during everyday movement, long hours of wear and travel.

The aim is a secure feel rather than firm compression. Softness against the skin remains an important part of these base-layer pants.

Warmth that reaches towards the ankles

The Hong Kong Edition has a specially selected longer length. Full inseam, waist, hip and other measurements are listed below to help you choose for your own proportions.

Travelling somewhere cold

The layer I take with me.

On this snowy mountain trip, I wore Golden Cashmere beneath my trousers. It is the kind of piece I like to pack: light in the suitcase and useful when the temperature drops.

It works with trousers or long skirts I already own, helping familiar clothes work in colder places rather than serving just one winter outfit.

These are Erica’s personal wearing experiences, not a product temperature rating. Comfort also depends on outer layers, the weather and activity levels.

Light to pack

Folded into one hand,
easy to take along.

An extra close-fitting layer makes an existing winter wardrobe more versatile. These Golden Cashmere pants fold down small, making them easy to tuck into a travel bag or suitcase.

Bring a little extra warmth without packing another bulky pair of trousers. The photograph shows the entire pair folded into one hand.

Erica’s own size M pair weighs approximately 128g.

Starting with the fibre

Why Golden Cashmere?

Fukaki’s Golden Cashmere comes from goats in Shandong, China, known locally as Taishan Red. Beneath their reddish-gold outer hair lies a fine, pale-beige undercoat.

According to the manufacturer, this down has an average fibre diameter of around 14 microns, with relatively little variation in thickness. This describes the raw fibre, not a test result for these finished pants.

What surprised me most was how something so light could feel so warm to wear. That is why I chose Golden Cashmere for a layer close to the skin.

Natural colour · Undyed

belongs to Golden Cashmere itself.

The fibre’s natural warm beige is retained without dyeing. Slight variations in tone are a characteristic of the natural material.

Up close, you can see the fine, even ribbing and cashmere’s naturally soft surface. The rib structure stretches with the body, giving this thin, close-fitting layer room to move.

Size and fit

M / L / LL: start with waist and hip measurements.

These are close-fitting, stretchy rib-knit base-layer pants. Use the waist and hip ranges as your main guide when choosing a size. Erica is 163cm tall and wears size M.

A (waist) and B (hips) are circumference references, not flat widths. E (hem width) is measured flat. The diagram identifies measurement positions only; it is not to scale or a factory measuring guide.

Rib knitting stretches, so please do not compare these measurements directly with non-stretch woven trousers. If you are unsure about sizing, please check with the retailer before ordering.

Everyday care

Wash gently, reshape and dry flat.

01

Gently hand wash in cold water

Use a mild detergent suitable for delicate fibres such as wool or cashmere. Wash gently and avoid vigorous rubbing.

02

Press gently with a towel

Do not wring. Press gently with a towel to absorb excess water without pulling the knit.

03

Reshape and dry flat

After washing, reshape the garment and allow it to dry naturally, laid flat. Do not tumble dry.

Small variations in natural knitwear

Natural cashmere may show slight differences in colour, surface softness, texture and finished measurements. These are characteristics of the fibre and knitted construction.

Fukaki · Since 1887

Behind the softness,
more than a century of experience.

Fukaki’s history in Japan dates back to 1887, and the company began working with cashmere in 1931. Knowledge of fine animal fibres, spinning, weaving and finishing has been built up across generations, forming the background to today’s Golden Cashmere.

Even a seemingly simple pair of base-layer pants involves more than the raw material. Inspecting fibres, understanding yarn, and selecting a suitable structure and finish all contribute to the final feel and wearing experience.

Material knowledge across generations

The company preserves a substantial archive of fabric samples. Its understanding of the relationship between fibre, yarn, construction and feel comes from generations of manufacturing, testing and accumulated experience.

Fukaki spinning equipment and processes

From fibre to a well-made yarn

Raw-material inspection, dyeing and blending, carding, spinning and twist control all affect the eventual feel. Working with fine cashmere requires balance across these processes.

Fukaki weaving equipment

Understanding yarn and fabric

Fukaki has long made woven wool fabrics, yarns and knitwear. Yarn count, fabric density and finishing are all part of its understanding of the complete manufacturing process.

Details in experienced hands

For knitted products in general, the yarn informs the choice of gauge, machinery and knitting specifications. Joining and finishing also require skilled hands. Different products call for different structures and processes.

Made in Japan, these Golden Cashmere base-layer pants bring that material knowledge into everyday life through fine ribbing and a close-fitting shape: a layer to reach for throughout winter.

The historical and workshop images above illustrate Fukaki’s company background and general manufacturing processes, not a process-by-process record for these pants. This product uses natural-colour, undyed Golden Cashmere.
